Taiwanese scientists recruited 23 hypercholesterolemia patients and some healthy volunteers who were randomly assigned to drink 250ml of onion red wine extract or red wine every day for ten weeks. There was no change in the subject's weight, body mass or body mass index. However, the researchers found that the antioxidant activity in both groups was severe, which may be related to the lag time of LDL oxidation.
The researchers wrote: "Onion red wine extract and red wine intake increased by 40.3% and 31.3% during the low-density lipoprotein oxidation delay, respectively. This indicates that onion red wine extract is better than red wine during low-density lipoprotein oxidation lag. .
Several studies have confirmed that the intake of wine or onions can effectively increase the antioxidant capacity, and therefore, this also delays or reduces the sensitivity of low-density lipoprotein oxidation and possible cardiovascular diseases.
By measuring blood lipid concentrations, only onion red wine extract reduced LDL and total cholesterol levels within 10 weeks.
The intake of onion red wine extract is related to the improvement of various inflammatory factors.
The researchers also wrote: "We conclude that the protective cardiovascular function of onion red wine extract is more prominent due to high blood cholesterol, anti-oxidation and anti-inflammatory effects. In the future, the cardioprotective mechanism of onion red wine extract will be The active groups of red wine and onions are revealed."
