Aloe-emodin is an antibacterial active ingredient of rhubarb. It is a chemical of orange needle crystal (toluene) or khaki crystal powder. It can be extracted from aloe, and has anti-tumor activity, antibacterial activity, immunosuppressive effect and diarrhea effect. It is widely used as a raw material for medicines and cosmetics.
In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars are interested in the anti-tumor effect of aloe-emodin. The main anti-tumor activities are concentrated on tumors of neuroectodermal tumor, liver cancer, lung squamous cell carcinoma, skin Merkel cell carcinoma, gastric cancer and leukemia. A wide range of anti-cancer, aloe-emodin inhibits P388 leukemia cells and prolongs survival. One of its mechanisms of action is to inhibit the biosynthesis of DNA, RNA and proteins in cancer cells.
At a concentration of 1.5～25mg/ml, aloe-emodin inhibits staphylococcus, streptococcus, diphtheria, subtilis, anthrax, paratyphoid bacillus, dysentery bacillus, etc., which is most sensitive to staphylococcus and streptococcus, antibacterial The effective concentration is 15-25 ug/ml. The antibacterial concentrations of Staphylococcus aureus 209P, Escherichia coli and Shigella flexneri in vitro were 7.5 mg/L and 600 mg/L, respectively. One of its mechanisms of action is to inhibit mitochondrial respiratory chain electron transport.
Aloe-emodin has a strong inhibitory effect on the nucleic acid and protein synthesis of Staphylococcus aureus. Aloe-emodin has a strong inhibitory effect on common clinical anaerobic bacteria. Among them, common fragile bacilli can inhibit the growth of 90%-100% strains, and its MIC is slightly higher than metronidazole. At a concentration of 8 μg/ml, 76% to 91% of anaerobic bacteria can be inhibited.
Aloe-emodin can inhibit the production of antibodies in organisms, inhibit the clearance of carbon particles, reduce the weight of immune organs, reduce the number of white blood cells, and reduce the function of peritoneal macrophages. The concentration of [3H]-TDR and [3H]Urd in lymphocytes was significantly inhibited in vitro at a concentration of 100 μg/ml.
Aloe-emodin has strong diarrhea activity, intestinal bacteria metabolism aloe emodin, rhein, and rhein ketone, the latter has a strong diarrhea effect. It is clinically used as a laxative with an appetite and laxative effect. According to the foreign medical journal, aloe vera is hydrolyzed into aloe-emodin under the action of parasites in the human body. This aloe-emodin stimulates the peristalsis of the intestinal wall, and at the same time, it is beneficial to the elimination of waste in the intestine due to the change of osmotic pressure, thereby achieving irritation. Laxative, this stimulating effect has a special effect on constipation and acne. Especially for middle-aged and elderly constipation, the treatment effect is more obvious.
